We are down to the wire with only one day left - the final touches are being made for the stage. We are printing the name badges, finalizing details with speakers, hoping the snow lets up so all our attendees are not stranded at home ...
It has been an honor and quite a journey to put this event together. We are an all volunteer staff and everything that has come together up until this point has been a labor of love - for TEDx, for Tbilisi, for TEDxTbilisi and Georgia.
There have been untold hours of planning that went in to this on so many sides - from the TEDxTeam, our sponsors and partners, the speakers, our brave hope-to-be attendees who got up at the un-heard of hour at 8:00am in Georgia. But you did it, and soon it will all come to pass.
If you are going to be at the venue on Saturday, please come with a light heart and an open mind (and a little compassion, since we are all first-time organizers here would be really appreciated too!) If you will watching us via the livestream, we hope you enjoy the event from the comfort of your own home - and revel in the fact that you got to watch TEDxTbilisi in your pajamas!
TEDxTbilisi 2013 - the theme is Crossroads. The literal definitions of crossroads include "an intersection or junction" and "a place where two or more roads meet". Metaphorical definitions of crossroads include, "a point at which a crucial decision must be made that will have far-reaching consequences","convergence", and "a place of common ground".
TEDx is a program of local events that give communities like Tbilisi the opportunity to spread ideas, be inspired and spark discussion, through TED-like experiences at the local level. The TED organization provides general guidelines for holding a TEDx event, but individual TEDx events, including ours, are independently planned and coordinated. more
