Nominate a Speaker for TEDxTbilisi 2016!

Yes, it's happening again! We are planning to hold TEDxTbilisi in spring 2016, and we are looking for nominations.

Do you have a good idea? We are looking for speakers connected to Georgia, and typically those that live here, too. The talks (by TED rules) are in English. You can also nominate yourself, if you feel you have something important to share.

Here are the criteria which we previously used, and here are the formal TED rules

Ready to nominate someone? Great! Ideally do it right now (and certainly before November 24) by going to our nominations form, right here

TEDxInnovations features Natalia Antelava's talk

We are very happy to highlight that Natalia Antelava's talk at TEDxTbilisi 2015 has been featured on the TEDxInnovations website.

Great to see ideas from Tbilisi spread further! Here is the TEDxInnovations link, and more on Natalia's work with Coda Story is here.

Intrigued? You can contribute to TEDxTbilisi 2016 either by volunteering or by nominating a speaker

Join the TEDxTbilisi 2016 Team!

We are getting ready again! Do you want to join the TEDx Tbilisi 2016 team? Several experienced team members will continue to contribute & volunteer, but we are also welcoming new members to our team. Right now, we are primarily looking for people that will contribute to the core organizing team, which will start work from the fall.

Interested? Fill out the form right here, ideally right now, so that we hear from you!

Moving to New Website

TEDxTbilisi has just moved to a new website. (Hooray!)

We have many more photos showing TEDxTbilisi speakers and events, thanks to Andro Dgebuadze (especially on the speaker photos) and Nata Abashidze-Romanovskaya. See, too, the post below.

Please stand by while we add new features, and bring some of our old content onto this new site. In the meantime, enjoy the talks by our speakers, follow us on Facebook or Twitter.

On this occasion, we would also like to specifically thank ITNovations, an IT company in Tbilisi, who very kindly got us going with our website. Thank you, Nino Darakhvelidze for your great work and your help!!!

Attending TEDxTbilisi 2015: What You Need To Know

After months of hard work, the TEDxTbilisi 2015 team is looking forward to welcoming you Saturday June 20.

We have put together a program that has highlights for everyone. Our nine speakers will convey ideas that they have worked on, usually for many years, and that hopefully will inspire debate.

Yet the most important people at the event are the guests. They — you — make it a success by engaging with the ideas, and also with each other.

In addition to your contribution (thank you!), TEDxTbilisi 2015 is made possible by sponsors and volunteers. Please keep our sponsors in mind: Bank of Georgia, Rooms Hotel Tbilisi and Free University, as well as Bakuriani Water, BetterFly Advertising, Crystal Microfinance, Gurieli Tea, Intermedia Printing, Natakhtari Soft-Drinks and Teliani Valley. See the list here, which also includes additional partners. If you meet any of the sponsors, please do thank them for their support.

The practical work on TEDxTbilisi 2015 has been done by a team of volunteers. We'd like to think we did a pretty good job so far, but if something does not run 100% perfectly, let us know and we will try and fix it. (Future volunteers and sponsors always welcome!)

Now, the key details (and read the stuff about dressing for the weather!):

Key Details: When & Where
Date: Saturday June 20, 2015
Time: Registration is at 12:00, the event will end by 18:30
Place: Free University, 240 Agmeshenebeli Alley (Dighomi)

This is an afternoon event. We invite you to join us at Rooms Hotel Tbilisi to continue the discussions following the talks.

Don't have a ticket?
As the event is sold out, we will not be selling tickets at the door. Join us instead via Livestream!

If you have signed up for a spot and received emails from us, but have not yet picked up your ticket, you can do that when you register.

Directions to Free University
TEDxTbilisi 2015 is taking place at Free University, located here. Never been there before? You can get to the University from Didube on bus 38 or marshrutkas 203 and 87. Marshrutka 116 from Gldani will also take you right by the venue.

Check out this year's program and get to know our nine speakers. We'll have two catered breaks throughout the afternoon, as well as a gathering following the event.

Social Media Encouraged
Do tweet and post! You can leave cameras at home, as we have three photographers who will take plenty of pictures that they will share. Please dont take pictures during the talks (its actually against TED guidelines), as screens may interfere with the filming of the event. All talks will be recorded and put online.

Souvenirs Available
There will be t-shirts and mugs on sale – by buying them youll help to fund future TEDx events.

Remember Your Tickets, Wear Badges

Almost all of you already have your ticket. Remember to bring it! We are fully booked, so please dont bring an extra guest.

A handful of you who were on the waitlist will get your ticket at a separate desk on Saturday. That separate desk will have a list with your name and details. To be clear: if you got this email from us, you definitely have a spot at the event. Be there at 12:00.

You will all get your badge at the entrance, and youll need it throughout the event. If you cannot make it, we cant refund you, but you can hand your ticket to someone else to substitute you. Do travel early to arrive at 12:00, as there will be quite a few people moving out that way.

In the light of the sad events last weekend, there will be a minute of silence at the beginning of TEDxTbilisi 2015.

Prepare for Weather
Saturday is expected to be hot, so please dress for the weather! Really! Informal dress welcome, do anything you can to stay cool.

If you have any questions, get in touch.

See you Saturday! We cant wait!
